In my last blog entry, I talked about the first step of my journey into raw and living foods. As I entered into this new chapter of my life, I participated in a raw food training in which I was required to give a short presentation about my journey. Halfway through the presentation after describing my life as a wilted plant, I blanked out and I was compelled to pause and close my eyes. In that moment, I saw a bright light flashing like fireworks in my eyes, and I came to the realization that I was meant to put light and life into my body, instead of the dead and wilted, lifeless matter that I had been eating for the majority of my life. At the end of the program, as we were discussing what we learned, I saw a tunnel with light shining at the end of it and I realized that there was a pathway out of darkness and disease. Later that day, I was sitting at the ocean silently reflecting on everything I had experienced and saw the sunlight glimmering on the water. As I peered into the water, the words, “Living Light” were gently repeating themselves over and over again in my mind. On my way home, I remembered that there was a school called, Living Light, and I had no doubt that I was meant to go there!
When I arrived a few months later to Living Light as a student, I told Cherie about how the light led me here and asked her about how she chose the name. She said that it came to her through inspiration. She wanted the name to reflect the interconnection of all things: living lightly on the land, being in the light, eating light, and being a light to others.
In relation to light, I recently read an article about sunlight stored in our foods, called, “It’s Alive! The Importance of Choosing Living Foods” by Ann Musico. She states, “You absorb the sun’s energy through the food you eat as well as through your skin. Stored sun energy from your food gets into your cells in the form of tiny particles of light. These light particles are called ‘biophotons‘, which are the smallest physical units of light…the more sunlight a food is able to store, the more nutritious it is. The ability to store biophotons is a measure of the quality of your food.” The light that I had experienced on my journey into raw foods was even more significant than I had imagined…
