In the gardens we are slowly getting ready to turn over crops that are through, adding horse manure, rice hulls, and lime. The last ingredient is necessary as we are surrounded by pine – acid – trees and need to alkaline the soil. Rice hulls help to aerate the soil and the horse manure is the best fertilizer we have found, and it is local: from our neighbor.
I love to eat and make pumpkie pie. I have to admit, however, that Living Light’s raw vegan pumpkin pie with whipped cashew cream is quite delightful. I am not sure all the recipes that Cherie and Vinnette will be teaching in Pastry Arts – Unbaked! 1 and 2, but I can hardly wait. Sometime the students and Vinnette bring down samples – yummmmmm!
